Hi I am hoping that someone can tell me if a KA classic with 250 watts power would be powerful enough for my needs. I am looking to use it for making one to two loaves of bread at a time. I found a used one that is selling at a good price but I know that if it doesn't have enough power to do what I need it for, then even if it is free, it's not worth aquiring. Thanks

My KA Pro 600 died after a year and a half, mixing a small batch of dough. I will never buy another KA mixer. I had two fail, both out of warranty, in about 5 years. I now have a Bosch Compact and an Electrolux DLX. For what you want to do, the DLX is probably overkill and more than you want to spend. Buf I think the Compact would be perfect.
Can't judge a mixer by its wattage
The 250 watt rating is the wattage the mixer consumes. It does not reflect anything about the power of the mixer or how well it will mix.
How old is the KA you are considering? If it's really old, then you may have found a treasure.

Yea, agree with the above statement. I guess I did not realize this may be a used machine. If it is an older one, back from the Hobart days, I would think it would be fine. My statements refer to the newer KA mixers. And also agree, wattage is pretty much meaningless.

Can you check manufacturer?
When Hobart made KitchenAid mixers, they were very high quality products. Hobart sold the line to Whirlpool in 1986.
If there's any marking on the mixer indicating it was built by Hobart, it would be a very good buy - presuming it still works.
